Could the Night Tube service boost property prices?

On Friday the 19th August the new Night Tube services began operating on the Central and Victoria Lines in London. The service has already proven popular and plans are in place to extend it to other routes throughout the rest of the year.

The idea has been praised because it offers better connectivity and means people can still make their way quickly around the city after hours. This is particularly good news for people who work later in the city and those who enjoy the nightlife on offer. Calls are already being heard for night services to run all week.

Many estate agents are predicting that the night time Tube services will have a positive impact on house prices in a number of areas along the routes. It will make areas more attractive to commuters and people who choose areas based on the nightlife on offer. It means they can live further afield whilst also still being able to enjoy attractions in other areas.

The new Night Tube service is expected to have a similar affect on the property market that the announcement of Crossrail had. It may see demand for properties rise in areas along the routes as well as an influx of developers looking to create new homes in these locations. Destinations at the end of routes including High Barnet will be particularly attractive.

At Finefair we look forward to seeing how the property market reacts to the new Tube services. We will be on hand to advise our clients, including prospective owner occupiers and investors too.
