Google is planning even more property investment in London

Kings Cross in London sits on the border between the Boroughs of Islington and Camden. The area is close to the heart of the city, offering an unbeatable location with incredible transport links. The destination has attracted a great deal of property investment, including from some of the largest names in the business world.

Google is the biggest name looking to invest further in Kings Cross. The tech giant has its main office in the area at 6 Pancras Square, across the road from University of Central London. By the end of this year the property is expected to be home to a staff of 2,800.

Alongside this property Google is planning to invest in even more buildings in the area, including a brand new HQ designed by architect Thomas Heatherwick and a building currently known only as “S2”. The plan is to move operations from other offices in London, keeping all of Google’s staff together in Kings Cross.

The property investment is also expected to result in the creation of new jobs. Estimates suggest that the workforce could rise from 4,000 people to 7,000 by 2020. This would be fantastic for the area.

Google’s property investment will also have an impact on the surrounding areas, bringing even more attention to Islington and Camden as well as Kings Cross. People will be looking for homes in these areas so they can live close to their new offices. It could see both demand and prices rise. Fortunately the great transport links people will be able to live outside of the areas and commute as well if they wish to make their homes further afield.
