East Dulwich; an area with more than transport links

One of the main things people now look for when searching for homes in London is access to transport links. As a result areas with Tube stations tend to have the highest demand, especially amongst commuters. Some areas without these connections perform very well though. East Dulwich is a fantastic example.

The area in the south London Borough of Southwark is very popular with young families. It offers a mix of amenities that won’t be found in many other areas. Most notably it is home to a very diverse selection of independent shops, bars, restaurants, and cafes. These outnumber the number of chain stores. In addition to this there are great local schools and a wonderful community feel.

Although lacking a Tube station, East Dulwich does have excellent train links. Travellers can reach the centre of the city in around 15 minutes as a result. This is perfect for people who need to commute for work.

The property scene in the area is great, benefitting from numerous streets of Victorian houses offering three and four bedrooms. On top of this there are larger Edwardian properties in Oak Rise, a local conservation area. Three storey late Victorian town houses can be found in The Gardens, yet another conservation area.

There has been a rise in the number of people moving to East Dulwich over the last few years, particularly those relocating from more central locations. The area continues to offer better value for money and larger properties.

With the high demand it is no wonder that investors are looking at the area. The lack of Tube station may deter some renters but all of the other benefits can’t be ignored.
