A new education hub for west London

Hammersmith and Fulham Council recently green lit a new project for White City. The development will create a brand new education hub as well as housing and other community facilities. Most importantly, the work is set to provide the first Youth Zone in west London. This is one of the most interesting examples of property investment Hammersmith and Fulham has seen in recent years.

A unique partnership

The project brings together the local council and OnSide, a specialist youth charity. This will result in plenty of new facilities and activities. It could have a huge impact on the local area, enriching the lives of locals.

There will be affordable and accessible programmes for young people from eight to nineteen. In addition, there will be programmes for people with special needs up to the age of twenty-five.

EdCity

The development is known as EdCity. One of the most important aspects of the projects is the creation of new school buildings. This will allow Ark Swift Primary Academy to move into top of the line classrooms.

In addition to the primary school, Harmony Neighbourhood Nursery is moving. The new facilities will allow the nursery to expand, increasing the maximum capacity to 75 children; double the current number.

Finally there is to be a revamped adult education centre. Again the current buildings are getting re-built, expanding them to offer even more spaces and higher quality teaching aids.

Homes and offices

Not all of the new buildings in the development are for education. In addition the plan is to create 132 new homes for different tenancy needs. Importantly 28 of them will be specifically for key workers at EdCity, including teachers. A further 38 are for social rent. The final properties will be private rental.

A number of new offices will be created a part of the development. Some of them are to become the head office of Ark, an international charity that runs the local schools and strives to make education more accessible. Other charitable organisations and partner organisations will also be able to take on offices.

The project is great for White City and the wider Borough. It will create fantastic facilities for the community to use. It also shows that the opportunities for property investment Hammersmith and Fulham has to offer incredible returns.
