A new school for Twickenham, Richmond Upon Thames

Investment properties in Richmond Upon Thames remain popular because there are so many things to attract buyers and renters to the area. The setting is fantastic, with so much space and greenery to enjoy as well as good transport links to Central London. In addition the area is home to a number of good schools.

The news that a new special needs school will open in Twickenham will make the area even more attractive for families. The Maaz gained approval during the latest round of applications for free schools. It will provide 72 places for children aged from 4 to 19. Of this number 28 will be for primary education, 35 will be secondary, and 9 will be for students from 16 to 19.

The Maaz will become the third special needs school in Richmond Upon Thames. The other two are Clarendon and Strathmore, both of which are run by the Auriga Academy Trust. The new school will be managed by them this too. The Trust worked closely with Richmond’s cabinet minister for schools on the proposals so there is great confidence in the quality of the management and education that will be offered at two sites in Twickenham.

The success of the application is even more fantastic when you take a wider look at the whole of London. In total just 16 applications were accepted in the capital. Four of those were in Richmond and neighbouring Kingston.

Investors with properties in close proximity to the new sites for the Maaz could see an increase in interest. Other buyers would be wise to consider these locations too as there will be new demand for homes in the areas when the school opens.
