Long term planning

The project for this thriving part of Tower Hamlets dates back to 2004. A huge amount of work has gone into making the plans because of the size, scale, and location. The development originally got approval from the local council in 2014. At the time the design was “innovative”. The full plans are now available.

A new community

In total the scheme will create 3,600 new homes. The plan states that 25% of them will be affordable. As a result, this will be fantastic for people who work in the local area.

In addition to the homes there will be a brand new two-form primary school with 420 places, a GP surgery, a restaurant, a leisure centre, and several parks. A big worry with such a large development is the impact on the local infrastructure. This new urban district will have plenty of amenities for new residents as well as other locals to enjoy.

Canary Wharf is renowned as a centre for business. As a result demand for offices in the area is very high at the moment. Consequently, there is pressure to create new spaces.
