Merton offers great schools

More families could be drawn to Merton after the release of the newest Progress 8 scores by the Department for Education. The table charts the performance of the 172 councils in England, determining how they score in terms of preparing secondary school students for their GCSEs. Merton came out top, reflecting the quality of education on offer in the area.

The Progress 8 scores calculate how much progress students have made between Key Stage 2 (primary school) and Key Stage 4 (secondary). Each school is given a score above or below zero, with positive scores indicating that more progress is being made on average. Collectively the schools in Merton earned a 0.51 score. This placed them joint top in England alongside Brent.

In addition to Progress 8 the state secondary schools have also been given good and outstanding ratings in the recent round of Ofsted inspections. This means families can choose to send their children to a school where they can have confidence they will receive a good standard of education.

The quality and performance of local schools is one of big things families look for when choosing a home. Merton really stands out and could attract more people to buying and renting in the area. The latter means there could be even more attractions for investors looking to purchase properties and make them available for rental.
