During the early months of 2016, Merton Council had asked residents to voice their opinions on the redevelopment plans of three housing estates in Mitcham, Morden and Wimbledon. The estates are located on Eastfields, High Path and Ravensbury, and the consultations were the most recent in a series that had been going on since the middle of 2013.

The proposals, which were spearheaded by Circle Housing Merton Priory, involved demolishing and reconstructing 900 existing homes, whilst adding an extra 1,200 into the mix. The Council had released a draft version of the Estates Local Plan as well that provided a detailed look at a planning framework and guide on the regeneration. They asked the public for feedback on these intentions after releasing the plan.

The feedback they were looking for included information on the extent of the regeneration that everyone wished to see, the open spaces and the layout of the streets. In addition, they also wished to find out whether the land should only be used for residential purposes, or if some should be dedicated towards business needs. They also took into account environmental protection and sustainability, building heights and landscaping, and traffic flow.

At Finefair, we always keep an eye on redevelopment projects, even those that are just in their initial stages. Each one offers opportunities for investment and property purchase. This in turn means we can be of great help to buyers, helping them to find the right option for them. We provide an array of services in Merton, including block management and advice about making a purchase.
