Homes that will enrich the Haringey landscape

Haringey Council recently granted approval for an interesting project for on Plevna Crescent in South Tottenham. The £15 million development will create 72 new homes in four pavilions. These properties will be a mix of studios and apartments with 2, 3 and 4 bedrooms.

The plans for the site are very interesting. The ‘lightweight pavilions’ will appear to float above a stone plinth. The design will make the properties fit perfectly into the existing landscape. A big part of this will be shingle panelling made from cedar and green roofs. It is hoped that this will complement the ecology setting and draw more wildlife.

A great deal of thought has gone into preserving the ecology with the design. So much so that only natural materials will be used for the soft and hard landscaping. Car parking will also be hidden underground so that additional green space on the surface is not taken up.

The homes will be open plan and dual aspect. The designs specifically focus on making sure the layout of the properties can be adapted over time. This will make the homes more attractive to younger buyers who may start families in the future and need to make changes.

The project is expected to be opened for tender in February 2018. If this is successful work on site could begin in July with completion expected in March 2020. Once finished, the homes could instantly become some of the most eye-catching and unique in the whole of the capital.
