Eastcote has developed into a popular suburb in West London in the Borough of Hillingdon. The area has a great community feel because it was first established around an ancient village. It remained a mostly farming community until the 19th century. Like many areas in London the arrival of the railway was the catalyst for development.

The railway station was built in the area in 1910. This triggered development first to the north of the building and then to the south, replacing fields in both instances. A mix of detached and semi-detached properties was built, joining the farmer’s cottages the area was renowned for.

Further development in Eastcote came after World War II. The damage across the capital resulted in a big housing shortage and developers had to look for new areas to build. The village became home to 1,000 new homes as well as schools and shops.

Another development began in 2007 at Pembroke Park. RAF Eastcote was built in 1943 and enjoyed quite a rich history. Initially a military hospital was built but it became surplus to requirements and was repurposed as an outstation for Bletchley Park’s codebreaking operation. Other buildings on the site saw various uses but the base ultimately closed in 2007 and was sold for housing development. Pembroke Park was ultimately created, including hundreds of new homes.

As you can see there have been a number of significant developments in the area over the years. It remains one for the most popular locations for property investment Hillingdon has because of the ideal location. Investors like the close proximity to Harrow to the east, Hillingdon and Uxbridge to the west, and Heathrow Airport to the south.
