What next for housing development in Haringey?

The argument about the Haringey Development Vehicle took yet another turn recently. The HDV, designed to allow the creation of 6,400 new homes in the Borough met some strong opposition, even leading the leader of the local council to resign. In February though four challenges to the project failed. Although this means the proposal can move forward there is real belief it will fade away if the political party in control of the local council changes in the coming elections. Continue reading

Tech businesses favouring the City of London

In the first quarter of 2018 more tech businesses chose to set up offices in the City of London. According to data from Savills the take-up of office space from companies in this sector hit 113,843 square feet. This is already over 50% of the total floorspace taken last year. In addition 42,474 square feet of space on the fringes of the area has been occupied. Continue reading

In London there are numerous different projects that aim to boost housing supply in the capital. For example there are developments on infill sites and refurbishment and change of use of old industrial buildings. The next phase of development in Mill Hill, Barnet

Mill Hill in Barnet, North London is to receive even more new homes. Architecture and design firm TateHindle recently got planning consent from the local council for a new mixed use scheme. This project will create 355 homes, including 345 apartments in six buildings as well as 10 townhouses. In addition they will create 400 square metres of commercial space and new community facilities such as a primary school and a police station. Continue reading

Waltham Forest to get its first skyscraper

In 2017 the number of proposals and projects for skyscrapers in London broke the 500 mark. More importantly high rise buildings are appearing in countless suburban locations. The very first towers are being put forward for Waltham Forest, Bromley, and other locations in the suburbs. People are moving home less often

One of the biggest changes in the property market in recent years is a big reduction in the number of times people are actually moving. Before the credit crisis in 2008, the average person would move house around four times (3.6) after buying their first home.
