There is a new tower on the horizon that could soon alter the face of Sutton’s town centre. At present, there are plans for 281 flats. This would result in the demolition of St Nicholas House, the 1960s office structure that was home to Surrey Motors. Such action would make way for the 19-storey block of flats.

Sutton Council’s approval

Back in October 2021, Sutton Council gave approval to a plan to build a moderately smaller 276 flat development. This was to be within an 18-storey building. The project was a mixture of flats for rent and sale. Now though, JRL Property wishes to amend the plans to favour a build to rent scheme with additional flats.

The extra floor would serve to increase the structure’s height by 5cm. It is possible to achieve this by lowering the height of every floor. As for the 281 flats, they would be across two buildings. One would be 19 storeys while the other is 11 storeys. Twenty of the flats would be available at a discount rent. A further eight would be at London living rent.

Communal spaces

This newest London scheme will include communal spaces too. There will be a cinema room, gym, and a bar, all included in a shared lounge. In addition, there is going to be a central garden and a roof garden on every block.

The application also said that the development would most likely house families, potentially housing around 69 kids. Therefore, they would create a play area for the youngsters. If you need help from the top business excelling in estate management Sutton has, please let us know.

This project would be around 0.3 miles away from Sutton Point. It would also be near a 21-storey block at Sutton Court Road that is currently under construction. As a result, it would keep the tall buildings relatively close together.

The site, over the road next to St Nicholas Church, features inside the Sutton town masterplan. Said plan includes 45 sites for redevelopment, such as shops and empty offices. This could reinvigorate the area with new housing, commercial space, and amenities.
